Kaffeeklatsch: Authentic German Bakery and Coffee Shop in Seattle, WA

This place is really awesome, I tried blechkuchen for the very first time (do not use autocorrect for this word, Lol!) and I was sold. Not too sweet, yummy fresh fruit, cake like crumble on top of a lightly sweet cake. I could eat this all day. The myriad of flavors that can go on this is bar is endless. The latte was perfect, 12/10 would visit again.

Always a fan of a good bakery cafe. And even more so when it's German! Kaffeeklatsch has been on my list for quite some time now. So glad we could make a quick stop here! The smell of fresh bread when you walk through the door is priceless. I mainly went here to try their famous biscuits. Especially the jam ones, which turned out to be amazing. But we also ended up trying their Bienenstich (A soft yeasty cake with almond crust top and sweet custard filling), Blechkuchen ( Buttery Sheet Cake with raspberry topping) and Apfeltasche (Apple Turnover). You just can't stop yourself from ordering them all! Loved that they weren't too sweet. Seemed perfectly baked and tasted yum! The raspberry one was a bit sour to my taste, but loved everything else! We got coffee just to go with it and I'm so glad we did!!! One of the best capuccinos I've had so far. Strong and extremely flavorful! If you're someone who loves coffee and some baked goodness, this is your place!

Came here as a little safe care treat. I got an iced mocha and pretzel with the mustard dip. It all tasted so good and got a comfy seat in the corner. It looked like there was only 1 barista working, I think his name was Scott. He did a good job managing the line orders and making drinks. In a city where I’ve experienced some pretty bad customer service, he was phenomenal. Will be back to try some more tasty treats and coffee

I picked up some baked goods recently on my visit to Kaffeeklatsch. The pretzels were the best I’ve ever had and the mustard sauce went great with them. I am a big fan of sour dough bread and was excited to try their rye bread loaf. The bread had a great flavor to it but it was really dense. I do not have much experience with German bread but it tastes authentic. They used to have soups for lunch pre covid. I really wish they bring it back.

This was the second time I went with my mom. Their pretzels are delicious. The cardamom coffee cake they have on weekends is delicious and surprisingly filling. The staff were very nice, and helpful. The building itself has a very cozy vibe to it, it’s quiet and peaceful and still has adequate space so you don’t feel squished. Can’t wait to come back!

very friendly staff and people that occupy this space, makes me feel very hopeful. Food and coffee is made with love and you can tell. can't recommend it enough.

Took a chance as my usual place is remodeling and I'm glad I did. The pastries and cakes were well made and fresh. The pretzels received the approval of a German citizen. The servers were friendly and engaged in light banter. The place could use a little sprucing up.

German bakery and café in Lake City that's been in business since 2011. They are best known for their pretzels, made using a traditional recipe that includes boiling the dough in lye water to get the chewy texture vital in pretzels. They also offer a wide range of breads and pastries for sale, plus breakfast sandwiches and coffees. The interior space is spacious with a high ceiling. Other touches that reinforce the ethnic atmosphere are the German flag outside the entrance, the German word of the day sign on the front counter, and the German radio station playing in the background. They are also very involved in the Lake City community, working with the local community council and food bank. This is a great place if you are at all interested in German baking.
